Karnataka BJP Leaders Detained After Attempted Lockout of Chief Minister’s Office
Bengaluru: Karnataka State BJP leaders were detained by the police on Wednesday when they attempted to lock Chief Minister Siddaramaiah‘s office in Vidhan Soudha. The leaders had gathered in front of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue at Vidhana Soudha to protest against the alleged improper functioning of the Siddaramaiah government.
R. Ashoka, the Leader of the Opposition, criticized Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar, urging them to halt their “street circus” in New Delhi. Ashoka emphasized the pressing issues faced by the people of Karnataka, including the demand for drought relief, milk producers requesting a Rs 7/ltr subsidy, and the impoverished inquiring about the promised 10 kg of free rice.
Ashoka said, the Congress legislators to address these concerns before initiating protests in Delhi. The demonstration involved the participation of State President B.Y. Vijayendra, former CM Basavaraj Bommai, and several BJP legislators.
In New Delhi, Karnataka BJP MP’s staged a protest against Karnataka Congress government alleging misgovernment. Bengaluru Central MP, PC Mohan said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi government has increased Karnataka’s funding by 240% in a decade, from Rs 81,000 Cr under UPA to Rs 2.82 lakh Cr under NDA. Congress’s “Delhi Chalo” prioritizes self-interest over state welfare, he said.
